Life doesn’t always unfold the way we imagined it would. There are seasons when we feel grounded and connected, and others when we feel overwhelmed, uncertain, disconnected or unsure of where to turn.
Whether you’re navigating the transition into adulthood, working through anxiety, exploring relationship patterns, processing past experiences or feeling ready to reconnect with yourself, counselling can offer a space to slow down, reflect and begin to understand what’s happening beneath the surface.
At Styling The Inside, I offer compassionate, trauma-informed counselling for adults and young adults aged 19 and older. My approach is relational, attachment-focused and grounded in an understanding of how our experiences, relationships and nervous systems shape the way we see ourselves and move through the world.
Sessions are available in person in Coquitlam and online throughout British Columbia.
You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. Sometimes, the first step is simply having a space where you can feel heard, understood and supported.
Counselling for Young Adults (19+) & Adults
Adulthood comes with its own set of transitions, expectations and challenges. And while becoming an adult can bring new opportunities and independence, it can also bring uncertainty, pressure and questions about who we are and where we’re going.
Young Adult Counselling (19+)
The transition into adulthood can be a significant period of personal growth and change. You may be navigating post-secondary education, entering the workforce, becoming more independent, changing relationships or trying to figure out what comes next.
Perhaps you feel pressure to have everything figured out, are questioning your direction or find yourself comparing your journey to others. You might be experiencing anxiety, uncertainty, loneliness, relationship challenges or difficulty trusting yourself.
Young adult counselling offers a supportive space to explore these experiences without judgment or pressure.
Together, we can explore identity, self-worth, emotional well-being, relationships, boundaries, family dynamics and the expectations you may be carrying.
You don’t have to have all the answers at 19, 22, 25 or beyond. This is an opportunity to better understand yourself, develop confidence in your own voice and navigate adulthood in a way that feels more aligned with who you are.
Adult Counselling
Sometimes, the patterns and experiences we carry into adulthood begin much earlier in life.
You may find yourself repeating relationship patterns, struggling with boundaries, feeling disconnected from yourself or noticing that certain situations bring up emotions that feel bigger than the moment itself.
Perhaps you’re navigating a life transition, relationship difficulties, burnout, anxiety or a growing desire to understand yourself more deeply.
Adult counselling offers space to explore your experiences, recognize patterns, process emotions and develop a stronger relationship with yourself.
Whether you’re looking for support through a challenging season or wanting to engage in deeper personal growth, our work together can be shaped around what matters most to you.
What Can We Explore Together?
Counselling can support you through a variety of emotional, personal and relational experiences, including:
- Anxiety, stress and feeling overwhelmed.
- Life transitions and uncertainty about the future.
- Young adult transitions, independence and identity exploration.
- Self-worth, confidence and self-criticism.
- Relationship challenges, attachment patterns and communication.
- Family dynamics and boundaries.
- Feeling disconnected from yourself or others.
- Emotional regulation and nervous system awareness.
- Childhood experiences and unresolved emotional patterns.
- Inner child healing and self-compassion.
- People-pleasing and difficulty expressing your needs.
- Navigating change, loss and challenging life experiences.
- Developing a stronger sense of self and personal direction.
You don’t need a specific concern or diagnosis to benefit from counselling. Sometimes, you simply know that something doesn’t feel right, or that you’re ready for a different relationship with yourself and your life.
Inner Child Work & IFS-Informed Parts Work
A meaningful part of personal growth can involve understanding the younger parts of ourselves and the experiences that have shaped who we are today.
Our childhood experiences, early relationships and attachment patterns can influence how we navigate adulthood, respond to stress, approach relationships and understand our own worth.
You may notice an inner critic that is difficult to quiet, a tendency to please others, a fear of disappointing people or protective responses that show up when you feel vulnerable or overwhelmed.
Using an IFS-informed parts work approach, we can gently explore the different parts of yourself with curiosity and compassion.
This work may involve exploring:
- Younger parts of yourself and unmet emotional needs.
- Protective responses and patterns developed through past experiences.
- Inner criticism, perfectionism and people-pleasing.
- Relationship and attachment patterns.
- Emotional triggers and responses that feel difficult to understand.
- Developing greater self-compassion and a more supportive inner relationship.
The intention isn’t to change or get rid of parts of yourself. It’s to better understand them, recognize what they may be trying to protect and develop more choice in how you respond.
Through this process, you can begin building a deeper connection with yourself and a greater understanding of the experiences you carry.
Mindfulness, Nervous System Awareness & Emotional Well-Being
Our emotional experiences are closely connected to our nervous systems. When we’re under stress, navigating uncertainty or feeling emotionally overwhelmed, it can become difficult to slow down, think clearly or feel connected to ourselves and others.
Through mindfulness and nervous system awareness, we can begin to recognize our internal responses, understand what may be contributing to stress and explore ways to support emotional regulation.
Our work may include:
- Developing awareness of your emotional and physical stress responses.
- Recognizing patterns that emerge when you feel overwhelmed or disconnected.
- Exploring mindfulness practices that support presence and self-awareness.
- Building emotional regulation skills and self-compassion.
- Understanding the connection between past experiences and present-day responses.
- Developing greater awareness in relationships and everyday interactions.
Rather than expecting yourself to always feel calm or in control, the focus is on developing a more compassionate relationship with your internal experiences and learning how to respond with greater awareness.
Our Approach to Counselling
At Styling The Inside we believe meaningful change begins when we feel seen, understood, and connected both to ourselves and the people around us.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative and tailored to your individual experiences and needs.
I draw from:
- Attachment-focused perspectives: Exploring how early relationships and experiences influence our sense of self and connection with others.
- Trauma-informed care: Recognizing how past experiences can shape emotional responses, relationships and patterns of behaviour.
- IFS-informed parts work: Exploring different parts of ourselves with curiosity, compassion and greater self-awareness.
- Mindfulness: Developing the ability to pause, notice and respond with greater intention.
- Nervous system awareness: Understanding stress responses and exploring ways to support emotional regulation and resilience.
- Relational and developmental perspectives: Recognizing how our experiences, relationships and stages of life influence our growth and well-being.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to counselling. Our work together will reflect your goals, experiences and the areas of your life you want to better understand.

“We don’t stop growing when childhood ends. Sometimes, adulthood is where we finally begin to understand the parts of ourselves that have been waiting to be heard.”
