Personal Hygiene and teens: The importance of getting my girls into a skincare routine

November 23, 2018.Reading time 7 minutes.

When I was a teenager I don’t remember having a skincare routine. In all honesty, I’m pretty sure I passed out without washing my face most nights of the week. The thing is, I suffered from acne and my skin breakouts were horrible. I also felt like they were embarrassing, and this really impacted my […]

Here’s your LOVE day reminder. 😍 We were all born loving ourselves and for some of us somewhere along this journey we lost sight of this love. The process of learning to fall in love with ourselves again isn’t always easy. In fact; it can be messy, and uncomfortable, and sometimes we may feel like giving up, but keep going because it’s truly the greatest love of all. And it really does set the standard for how others love us. When I think about the unhealthy relationships I had in my life when I was younger it was really a reflection of how much I was loving myself. Also, I think they should make an official self-love holiday and they should teach self-love in school. Wouldn’t that be amazing?! 💖 #stylingtheinside. . . . . . . . . . . . #selflovecoach #lovethyself #wordstoliveby #wordstolivebyfebruary #keepingitreal #vancouverblogger #raiseyourvibe #lightandlove #relationshipgoals #relationshipqoutes #healingjourney #soulhealing #nurtureyourself
“To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake it is necessary to stand out in the cold” . I love this deep quote about the snow (it’s very ‘styling the inside’) except I took this photo from my daughters bedroom window 🤣 ❄️. . In all seriousness, I did get outside and play in the snow with the kids yesterday. I was tempted to just watch from the window and then I remembered that our eldest daughter used to love playing in the snow and now she’s grown and would rather not. In fact, her response was, “eew” when I asked if she wanted to join us. 😆 Needless to say, I took advantage of the opportunity to play in the snow with my other girls who still enjoy it. I “should” have been working (the thought that kept coming up) but playing is important work too! . I think whether we have children or not this is an important reminder. We don’t always have to be grinding in order to feel worthy. Play is essential for our well-being and if you don’t like playing in the snow, I totally get it. Taking the time to slow down and simply appreciate it from the window is just as good for us too! 🙌🏻 #stylingtheinside #playmatters #slowdown. . . . . . . . . . . #momentslikethese #snowcouver #snowcoveredtrees #supernaturalbritishcolumbia #thisiscanada #meanwhileincanada #explorebritishcolumbia #greatwhitenorth #stillnessspeaks #playinginthesnow
📖 This is one of my favourite books ever!!!🙌🏻 . The Four Agreements was such a game changer for me. I picked it up about six and a half years ago and I go back to it every once in a while for a refresher. I honestly consider it my simple rules to live by bible. . . The one agreement that helped me the most is “Don’t take anything personally.” After I read this I went from being the queen 👸🏻 of taking things personal to remembering that it’s not about me. You’ll have to read it to see why this stuck for me. 😊. . In short, I highly recommend it. I also wish they used this book teach children and youth in school. The wisdom in this book is 🙌🏻🙌🏻✨ . . Do you have a book that has helped you “style the inside” of your life? I have so many but this is one of the first ones that truly helped me. . Hit me up in the comments with the ones that have helped you 👇🏻#stylingtheinside 🙏🏻
Happy Lunar New Year from myself and... the only child I have left who wants to take pictures in front of things I think look pretty🤣😭🧧 like this beautiful Lunar New Year installation @metropolisatmet! . . Fun Fact: Did you know I’m half Chinese? Well, if you don’t know, now you know. Hehe 😉 When I was growing up we didn’t have too many Lunar New Year traditions aside from my mom giving us lucky money. I’m so grateful for the money Lol 😆 but I always did kind of wish I knew more about our Chinese culture. However, my daughters have grown up with a more traditional Lunar New Year, because my in laws are Vietnamese (they sure do keep to their traditions) and for that, I’m thankful ❤️. . I love that my girls are growing up in this way, (even if they don’t fully understand it) and I hope they carry some of these cultural practices and traditions on some day too. This year, it was nice to visit @metropolisatmet and take part in some of the festivities. Do you celebrate the 🧧 Lunar New Year? . . Connection is where it’s at ❤️ . . I Found this quote this morning and I love it so much! It’s so true as we get older we begin to become pickier about who we choose to spend our time and energy with and that’s totally ok! As I got older I began to tune into the way I would feel after I’m with people. I would ask myself: Do I feel uplifted or do I feel drained? . It’s important to protect our time and energy and really spend it with people who are good for us. . . I hope you all have a great weekend surrounded by people that are good for you, good to you, and good for your soul 🙌🏻 #stylingtheinside
Without rain 🌧 nothing grows 🌱 . I used to hate getting outside for my runs and hikes in the rain. However, as I began to embrace the storms happening in my life moving my body outdoors and being in nature became an integral part of my healing. . . Essentially this has become the one kind thing I do for myself every day that positively impacts my physical & mental well-being. . In other words, I made being kind to myself a priority. It’s now my non-negotiable to get outside and move daily even if that means having ratty hair from the rain (I need a new hat) 🤣 . In all seriousness, how are you being kind to YOU this year? I would love to hear in the comments ❤️#snackKIND @kindsnacks #ad #stylingtheinsidepartner #stylingtheinside
