It’s been a while since I’ve written a blog post. I’m still here friends, and I have a few upcoming collaborative posts to share with you, but before I share those, I thought I would give you a life update.
At the end of January, our house sold. If you’re familiar with the Vancouver housing market then you know it’s a bit of a slower market for sellers. When our house finally sold (took about 6 months) we were super happy. I’ve had a lot of people asking why we decided to sell our home in the first place. In short, we purchased the home about six years ago with my parents, and everyone decided it was best to live in separate homes again. It wasn’t an easy decision, but I know it was the best decision for everyone’s happiness.
Nevertheless, moving kept us veryyy busy. We spent most of February decluttering, packing up our home, and… looking for a place to rent. The new owners took possession of the home we sold mid-March. In other words, we were in a bit of a panic when we couldn’t find a place. Again, if you’re familiar with the renting market in Vancouver, it’s a bit of challenge to find a family home to rent for a decent price.
In the midst of moving we also celebrated some special milestone birthdays. My grandma turned 80, our oldest daughter turned 16, our nephew celebrated his 100 days, and we celebrated Chinese New Year.
In all honesty, it was a bit of a stressful month but thankfully we found a place right on March 1st!
We’re all settled into our rental home now and it feels so good. It’s in the same neighborhood which made the transition smooth for our daughters. The house isn’t as updated as our previous home so I’ve spent some time giving it some love and cozy rental- friendly updates.
I’ve been loving “styling the inside” of our new place because it’s really important to me. I believe our environment makes a huge impact on our mental well-being, and let’s just say, our space makes me feel really good within. Although the home is older, and two of our daughters have to share a room, it doesn’t matter. I’m so grateful we found something we like until we buy another home.
The home evokes feelings of coziness, calm, and inspiration. In other words, I’m loving it and I don’t want to think about moving again for at least a year! hehe
After we moved into our rental home, we had to say goodbye to the car we drove for thirteen years. I was the only person in the family who cried! I think saying goodbye to the car triggered so much emotion because we were going through a big transition in our lives. We made so many memories in that car and it was truly sentimental to me.
For this reason, we had to buy a new car. The family is loving having upgrades like heated seats, Bluetooth, and more. I’m still trying to get used to having a backup camera. But, I have to admit, I’m loving all the upgrades as well, and I no longer worry that my car is going to breakdown. I think it broke down on me twice last year. Thank goodness for BCAA!
After we settled into our new place and bought a car, we went on a last-minute family vacation to Las Vegas. The girls were off for Spring Break for two weeks so we spent the last week in Viva Las Vegas. Traveling to Las Vegas is something I’ve always wanted to do with the family. It was a very different trip from previous trips to Las Vegas but it was my favorite visit yet!
We explored the strip, checked out some pools, shopped a little, went to a show, ate all the things, and walked a lot! I’m going to write a blog post about our trip because I had a bunch of people asking me about family-friendly things to see and do in Las Vegas. Stay tuned!
As you can see the past few months have been very full for our family. It was so nice to go away together after our move and spend some quality time together. I value experiences with my loved ones so much.
Lastly, I want to share that I’m still “styling the inside” of my life with my runs ( I just finished the Vancouver Sun Run and I’m running in a half-marathon this Sunday), and hikes because… how the heck would I have survived the move, all the celebrations, mom life and work life without it! Hehe
In fact, I found a trail right behind our new house with a stunning waterfall. Nature has always been my happy place, but this forest in my backyard feels extra special. I’m feeling grateful for this new chapter in our lives.
Needless to say, this is why I haven’t written a blog post in a while. LOL
Thanks for sticking around, friends!
