Spring Break is here which means the kids are out of school for two full weeks! Initially, I was kind of dreading the kids being home for so long because I work from home and sometimes it can be really challenging to balance both. Unless the kids just go on their Ipads all day, but I don’t want them to do that, so you know… the guilt cycle begins. I need to get work done, but I also want my children to be creative and do things that are good for their well-being. Needless to say, the struggle can feel real.
When my older girls were younger I spent a lot of time with them. In fact, I ran a child care center and both of my daughters were with me every day. I truly treasure those memories I have with them but I do sometimes feel guilty (again) that I didn’t get as much time with my youngest. I have to admit, I just wasn’t as present. And now that I see how fast my girls are growing, I really don’t want to waste any more time worrying that I should be doing more important work when the important work of being present with my child is right in front of me.
For this reason, the other day, I decided to take a break from work so I could spend some one-on-one time with my youngest daughter. We added a splash of fun to our day with some special mermaid arts and crafts provided by Quaker. Quaker Chewy® Mermaid Confetti Chip granola bars helped us turn up the fun on
an ordinary moment! It was really nice to get creative with one another while we decorated a mermaid treasure chest.
With some paints, stickers, glitter glue, mermaid tape, shells, and more we turned an ordinary arts and crafts moment into memories that will last a lifetime.
I know my older daughters always recall these special one-one-one moments we shared with one another when they were younger, so I’m sure my daughter will always remember that time during spring break when her mom decided to close her laptop for a little while and play mermaid arts and crafts with her.
Thank you to Quaker for reminding me that these magical moments of
fun, are really quite simple. At the end of the day, these ordinary moments are really big moments in the eyes of our children.
My daughter loved the new Quaker Mermaid Confetti chip granola bars so much, she hid them inside the treasure chest she made so her sisters don’t eat them all!
Quaker Chewy® Mermaid Confetti Chip granola
bars are available for a limited time only. Look out
for a mermaid’s tail on the boxes, and try them
before it’s too late!
