Last year my husband and I went on a romantic getaway to Victoria B.C. After the getaway, we felt refreshed, and reconnected. Most importantly, we came home feeling inspired to start putting our marriage first.
After years of putting the kids first, we realized one day we are going to be empty nesters, and if we didn’t begin to make our relationship a priority we could end up looking at one another and realizing we barely know another anymore.
Our last getaway without kids before the Victoria trip was seven years prior!
We definitely didn’t want this to happen again. I think it was because we felt so reconnected and didn’t want the feeling to go away.
For this reason, I wrote about how our romantic getaway to Victoria inspired us to make a commitment to stop living so mundane and to make time for one another. You can read the post here:
I think we did an okay job of spending more one-on-one time with one another last year.
We attended some fun media events with one another, planned date nights, went on spontaneous lunch dates, and best of all, we ended the year with a staycation at The Douglas Autograph Collection Hotel at Parq Vancouver. It was amazinggggg, to say the least.
You know you're still in love when… you still enjoy one another's company when you're not with your kids! 😜 . In 2017, we made a commitment to try and put our marriage first. We went on a romantic getaway alone at the beginning of the year and realized how refreshing it was to spend time with one another alone. I think we did ok. It's really hard when you're raising three kids to do it all the time but it's so necessary! Looking forward to more date nights in 2018 with this one.. . Ps. A huge Thank you @thedouglas_van for the memorable New Year's Eve (Eve). Hubby and I had a great night eating at The Victor ( the food was SO goood!) hanging at D6 Lounge, and sleeping on the comfiest bed. Date night @parqvancouverbc is 👌🏻#playatparq. We had a romantic, delectable, mouth-watering dinner at their newest restaurant, Victor.
Everything from start to finish was beyond words. The service was exceptional, and we both agreed we loved the ambiance.
After dinner, we walked over to D/6 Bar and Lounge where we enjoyed great music, cocktails, and good vibes.
Before we decided to go back to our room we took the elevator over to The Casino and tried our luck.
In short, it felt so convenient to be able to do all of that in one place!!
We didn’t have to worry about looking for a place to go after dinner. In addition, we didn’t have to worry about how we were going to get home.
We simply walked back to our modern, west coast nature-inspired room and had the BEST sleep on the comfiest bed (without Charley our youngest daughter kicking us in the ribs).
Parq Vancouver is also a great place for your next girls getaway or birthday celebration. In fact, I think I’ve convinced my sister to celebrate her thirtieth birthday here. It’s cheaper than flights to Vegas with the same vibe.
In addition, there is some more restaurants hubby and I want to check out, and I really want to enjoy the spa.
All in all, I guess I may be back sooner than I thought.
I know we will definitely be back at Parq Vancouver to stay & play for another date night.
Most importantly, in 2018 my husband and I are going to try our best to continue making our marriage a priority.
Thank you, Parq Vancouver for the memorable experience.
