Farm- to -plate longtable dinner at Central Park Farms #exploreLangley

Ah. There’s nothing like arriving at a farm on a warm summer evening greeted with drinks to the sound of live music and a dreamy dinner set-up. When my husband and I arrived at Central Park Farms a few weeks ago for a special media long-table dinner we were in awe! It made me want to have our wedding all over again, this time: rustic farm style!

We began our evening with drinks and mingling. We had a lovely tour of the farm, and then we sat down for a delicious, fresh, farm -to -table dinner.

It was such a treat for my husband and I. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about Central Park Farms and each of the event sponsors who made the evening possible.

Everything from the food, drinks, entertainment, and decor was simply… perfect! I’ll never forget this beautiful summer evening.

About Central Park Farms and the rest of the amazing local people who made the evening possible:

“In 2015, after falling for the farm boy, 30-year-old Kendall Ballantine traded her power suits for gum boots and Central Park Farms was born. Located in beautiful south Langley, they have a goal of helping their community make ethical and sustainable food choices. Specializing in non-GMO fed pasture raised chicken, pasture raised pork, grass fed beef, and farm fresh eggs from pasture raised hens, it’s all about making sure the animals are raised in a positive environment.

Believing in transparency over certifications, they open the farm doors and let consumers see exactly where their food comes from, how it’s raised, and who the farmers are behind it all. Growing from farm stand sales to farmer’s markets, Central Park Farms has become a favorite of top chefs and restaurants throughout the Lower Mainland — So cluckin’ good!”

True Grit Farm

True Grit Farm is owned and operated by Gaby Naranjo and Ashlee Brillert. Our main focus is to provide restaurants with high-quality micro greens grown using organic practices. In addition to our micro greens, we grow a modest amount of mixed field vegetables for our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program and our restaurants, and we raise a small amount of lamb.

We pride ourselves on always delivering honest, sustainably-grown, nutrient dense food. It is also very important to us to continually put effort into supporting other small-scale sustainable farms. We truly believe all of us need to work together to bring significant positive change to our food system.

Backyard Vineyards

Backyard Vineyards is a full production winery nestled in the countryside of South Langley, BC. We value our small boutique setting for the opportunity it affords us to pay more attention to the minute details, from making all varietals from only free-run juice to the exacting methodology behind barrel size and minimal filtration techniques. The result is high quality and award-winning, yet approachable wines for everyday enjoyment at home or at our Tasting Room at the Winery.

Chef Adrian Beaty — Food from the Farm

In 2014 Adrian, his wife Shannon, and their two boys decided it was time to close their restaurant and move on to other opportunities. Voila! Chef Adrian cooking “from the farm” was born! “Food from the Farm” represents everything that steered his career in the direction that it has gone. It’s about working with farmers, working with the seasons, creating food that could give you a sense of time and place. It’s all about keeping things local, simple, and seasonal.

Roots and Wings Distillery

As a micro distiller, we believe that small-batch production allows for more experimentation and creativity. Our distilled liquor will have unique flavour profiles influenced by our own crops and natural spring water. The on-site distillation process will begin with a 30-gallon copper kettle still from Hillbilly Stills, Kentucky.

The first and only in Langley, our craft distillery opened in February 2017 with the release of our inaugural B.C. artisan spirit
— Vital Vodka.

Trading Post Brewing

Throughout history, breweries have been a fundamental part of the communities they serve. Here at Trading Post, we are no different. Our modern day craft brewery was born out of a passion for great beer and from our desire to serve the community we call home. As we grow, we look forward to serving the Langley community and sharing our passion for great beer. It’s over a glass of that very creation, a labor of our love, where friendships deepen, family ties strengthen and community unites.

BC Buzz Honey

BC Buzz Honey is the brainchild of Chris Davies and Kris Friesen. The ‘Two Chris’’ decided they wanted to try their hand at honey production in beautiful Langley, British Columbia…and BC Buzz Honey was born. They produce only raw honey, which is unpasteurized therefore ensuring all the nutrients, enzymes, and antioxidants remain in each jar. The processed honey you find in stores have all been stripped of the benefits of raw honey, and because of this, it is just as unhealthy as refined sugars. Find your favorite variety of honey at the Honey Hut or at over 50 stores around the lower mainland.

Ryan McAllister: Musician

After abandoning a promising career as a raspberry picker, Ryan began his career in music. His Abbotsford band Dakona was signed to Madonna’s Maverick records for 4 years where his songs charted on Billboard. He has performed thousands of concerts on five continents with artists ranging from Willie Nelson to Michael W Smith. He continues to write, tour & record and he recently won a Juno for his work as a producer.
