34: the number of years I’ve been blessed with this beautiful, messy & crazy thing called life.
They say age ain’t nothing but a number, but I completely disagree.
Aging signifies our personal growth, the number of memories we’ve made, our experiences, the hardships we may have endured, the connections and relationships we’ve had over the years.
Our age isn’t merely a number; it’s a timeline of our lives.
And it’s the one number that matters. In fact, it’s probably the most significant number in our life.
Instead, they should say, the number on the scale ain’t nothing but a number.
The amount of likes and followers we have ain’t nothing but a number.
The amount in our bank accounts, the number of people who may not like you, the price tag on our belongings, the number of other people’s opinions, the number of wrinkles on your face: these things ain’t nothing but a number!
The thing is, it’s easy to get caught up in these numbers.
Trust me, I’ve been guilty (especially since social media is a large part of my work) but what I know for sure is this:
if worrying about any of these numbers doesn’t make you feel good on the inside, it’s your soul telling you that it’s not important. It’s your intuition telling you that the only number that matters is… Time. It’s our most precious commodity and wasting our time stressing about the numbers I listed above, takes away from the time we could be spending on things that truly matter; like the difference we can make while we’re here on this earth.
Our age signifies the amount of time we’ve had the privilege to live!
So, today, I’m spending my birthday feeling grateful to have lived yet another year and reminding myself that the rest; ain’t nothing but a number!
Thank you for spending your time reading this post! Xx
Well said birthday girl:) I can say proudly at now 42, it just gets better and better!
Ah, thank you Alisa! xxx
Happy Birthday, Jamie! Hope this year brings lots of love and happiness your way. You are such a beautiful person 😊
Thank you so much Lori!!! XXX
I couldn’t agree more. Happy birthday!
Thank you so much!
Right on. It also bugs me when people say things like “40 is the new 30.” No, 40 is still 40. It’s just up to you how you choose to define or interpret that number. Happy birthday, from a fellow 34-year-old. 😉
Totally!!
And it only gets better babe. Here’s to another year of not giving a f*ck to numbers, but to living an authentic life. Xoxo C.
