Being Woman- A one day retreat

You know those days when you’re in the zone? Things are aligned. Luck is abound. And
nothing can throw you off.
In life the only thing that is constant is change—so there will be ups and downs. But imagine if
you could create a business that is fueled by purpose. An intentional business that helps foster
meaningful relationships, wealth and well-being— regardless of outer circumstances. Master this
and everything will consequently align in your favour.

This September, my friends, Lara Kozan (cofounder of Yyoga and Nectar Juicery) and Kate
Muker (founder of Conscious Divas) are hosting a heartcentred business retreat called Being
Woman. They asked me to answer a few juicy questions about my journey as an entrepreneur.
If you want to master the art of creating a business that is aligned with your values, you need to
be at the Being Woman retreat (details and a promo code for an amazing gift bag is
waiting for you below). I’d love to see you there!

Q. What is your definition of success?

Success in my opinion is simple. It’s living a life with meaning and gratitude,  pursuing your life’s work -the work you were put on this earth to do, and using this work to somehow make  a difference.  When you let your intuition steer you in the right direction, you feel a sense of gratitude and happiness like no other. Success doesn’t mean you won’t have bad days, make mistakes or face challenges, in my opinion it’s being grateful for the days you have-good & bad.

Q. Every entrepreneur has those days when she wants to walk away. How do you get out of a
funk when you’re feeling unmotivated?

When I’m feeling unmotivated I think of my daughters. I close my eyes and picture their beautiful faces, and then I remember why I started.  I started this journey to inspire others to create a life that feels good on the inside. Voices of people I’ve inspired through my writing will pop into my head, and then I remember that although some days are tough, my work is making a difference.

Q. What has been the most challenging aspect of your work?

The most challenging aspect of my work, is balancing it all.  My brain is constantly thinking about this business, and it can be challenging to turn that off.  I wake up every morning passionate about growing this business, but I need to be able  to turn off the business mind when I’m with my family. Some days I’m super productive, and some days are a scramble.

Q. Opportunities are everywhere. How do you choose which ones to snatch up and which to
walk away from?

Great question. Opportunities really are everywhere! I always listen to my gut, because the times I’ve jumped on opportunities and ignored my gut, have been the opportunities I shouldn’t have snatched up. However, I really like to keep an open mind, because at the end of the day, I would rather jump on opportunities, instead of living in regret. That being said,  if it doesn’t work out, then at least I know I tried. In other words,  I walk away from the opportunities  that give me a bad vibe, and jump on the ones that align with my values.

Q. How do you make your well-being a priority?

It can be challenging as a mom to make myself a priority, however when I don’t,  I get to the point of depletion. I strive to make some time for myself daily, whether it’s a 30 minute work out or a short hike. I need time to decompress, clear my head, and stay in touch with me! I also nourish my body with a green smoothie every single morning. This gives me an energy boost to tackle the  day.

Q. How does your business impact your closest relationships?

My husband and daughters are so proud of me for starting this business. It has affected them in a meaningful way because they see how happy it makes me. My closest friends cheer me on, tell me how proud they are and to never give up. Although my time is a bit more limited, I always make an effort for the people who mean the most to me.

Q. Any last words of wisdom for an aspiring purpose driven entrepreneur?

Absolutely! My advice is do what makes your heart happy. If you have an idea inside that lights you up, and makes you excited… begin! Tell the negative committee in your head  to shut it, and just take the first step. You don’t have to have all the answers, you just have to begin.
